CHARLIE at anchor in Palio

In the summer of 2006, we had friends visit for two weeks and this is a picture of Charlie at anchor off the coast of Palio, near Kavala. The water is clear to almost 4 meters and the swimming is excellent because the water is warm, not hot. You can tell by the Greek guest flag, which is hanging straight down, that there is NO wind, typical of the time of year and the time of day. The afternoon wind blows up from the N/NE at about 1 each day and blows up to Bft. 4 until about 4. Then it is good sailing with Charlie.

Doukas family in their taverna

Doukas "the Indian" is the cook in his taverna in Krinides, outside of Kavala. We had a great lunch with him. He grilled river trout, a complete Mediterranean tuna(about the size of a forearm), lots of salad(he grows his own), beer, watermelon and laughs the whole time. We had visited the ancient ruins of Philippi(named after the father of Alexander, the Great). The hospitality of the Doukas family is typical of the Greeks we have met on our adventures with CHARLIE.
